Abschlusskonferenz der Chinesisch-Deutschen Kooperationsgruppe

2024/04/08

The Chinese-German cooperation group „Risk Management of Water Scarcity“ was coordinated for six years by TUDa (ihwb department) and Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology. It now came to a close on 8 April 2024 with a conference on „Hydroclimatological Extremes: Causes, Risk and Adaptation“. Seven German participants from TUDa, TU Munich and Kiel University flew to Nanjing. TuDa was represented with presentations by Prof Britta Schmalz and Paula F. Grosser from the ihwb research group and Prof Stefan Schäfer and Le Kieu from KGBauko. The desire for further cooperation and continuation of scientific exchange was also confirmed. Further common interests were explored during a water management excursion to Lake Taihu.

The scientific results of the co-operation group are very positive. The members met regularly to exchange expertise; five major conferences, ten smaller seminars and a further five online workshops were held during the coronavirus pandemic. This resulted in more than 50 joint publications, several jointly supervised doctorates and numerous reciprocal guest visits by scholarship holders.
